Day of AI, From Colombia to Concord: A Dynamic Start to 2025
As we progress through 2025, Day of AI is alive with excitement and innovation, driving our mission to make AI literacy education available to all. From exciting professional development opportunities to global outreach and community engagement, our efforts have taken us globally. Educators are now using our online curriculum in more than 170 countries while our “ground game,” domestically and abroad, continues to build momentum. In February, we engaged globally with impactful visits to Colombia and Uruguay. Closer to home, we built new in-person collaborations with school districts across New England, including an inspiring summit for close to 100 New Hampshire superintendents in mid-March. Here’s a play-by-play of Day of AI’s worldwide efforts since the start of the year.
Professional Learning

New Hampshire School leaders collaborate and critically analyze AI policy statements, engaging in thoughtful discussion to shape the future of education and technology integration.
Since January, educators worldwide have taken advantage of our free professional development sessions, gaining hands-on skills in AI literacy, critical analysis of generative AI tools, and interdisciplinary lesson planning. We offered targeted workshops for beginners and advanced users, including sessions like “Critical Evaluation of AI Tools/Responsible AI for Educators” and “How Do Machines Create?” One standout workshop introduced a fresh perspective on AI ethics, guiding educators in navigating the moral challenges of integrating AI into teaching with curricula and materials. With interdisciplinary lesson plans and real-world scenarios, teachers gained confidence in bringing ethical conversations into the classroom. Jorge Gallardo and Valerie Brock had the opportunity to share insights on AI literacy and preparing teachers during a podcast episode titled “How DayofAI.org is Helping Schools & Students Thrive in an AI-Driven World,” which premiered in February and was hosted by Classroom Dynamic’s Adam Todd. It was a great way to discuss our mission and share our goals for working with communities of educators worldwide.
This sense of community extended to our local partnerships as well. We have been actively collaborating with various Massachusetts school districts, working closely with teachers and administrators to develop customized AI literacy programs that fit their unique needs. In collaboration with MIT RAISE, we have worked closely with districts to help them create their AI policy. Additionally, our New Hampshire Summit on March 18th brought together school leaders from across the state to exchange ideas and build stronger AI education practices. This summit was an incredible opportunity to showcase innovative lesson plans, share success stories, and inspire deeper engagement with AI literacy. We are excited to continue this work with other northeast school districts throughout the spring!
Global Collaboration: Connecting Classrooms Worldwide
Day of AI’s commitment to global collaboration continues to grow. In February, our team traveled to Colombia and Uruguay to meet with educators and policymakers, sharing ideas on transforming education with AI literacy. These visits highlighted the importance of digital inclusion and building equitable and impactful educational opportunities. A particularly inspiring moment came when Dr. Randi Williams delivered a keynote address at Ceibal Summer School in Uruguay, attended by over 1,500 educators. She emphasized the importance of equitable AI education and digital inclusion, motivating local teachers to empower students with tech-driven learning. We provide a comprehensive step-by-step guide and suggestions for curriculum adaptations for those interested in establishing a Day of AI in their country or region. These resources are designed to assist individuals or organizations in tailoring the program to meet local educational needs and cultural contexts.

Looking Ahead
We are excited that our Senior Advisor, Jeff Riley, joined by MIT RAISE’s Daniella DiPaola, will speak with state education commissioners at the CCSSO conference in Washington, DC, on March 28th, 2025. They will connect with school administrators nationwide to discuss AI’s future in education. Our team members will join our MIT RAISE colleagues during the AI Show at the ASU+GSV Summit in San Diego from April 5-7, 2025. Jeff Riley and Jorge Gallardo will be facilitating the session “ MIT RAISE’s Day of AI: Bringing AI Literacy to Students Across the Globe.” Learn more about this event on the ASU+GSV website.
