Day of AI Bulgaria is a local initiative led by Mihaela Mihaylova (founder), Kosara Mihaylova (project manager), and Rui Pereira (designer), operating under the administrative umbrella of AI Literacy Initiative Foundation Bulgaria. The program focuses on practical education for the real world, offering classroom-ready materials that are clear, relevant, and designed to encourage students to ask questions, experiment, and create their own AI projects. 

Day of AI Bulgaria’s mission is to raise awareness and serve as a timely advocate for the vital need for AI literacy in school education and its importance for teachers and students alike. The team aspires to be a trusted partner on AI literacy in education and, therefore, actively partners with schools, libraries, companies, and NGOs across the country to organize theme days and pilots in which both teachers and students use the translated and adapted Day of AI curriculum. 

At its core, the initiative places people at the center of technology, guiding students to think critically about the societal implications of AI, including fairness, privacy, and its impact on communities. Day of AI Bulgaria also advocates for equal access to AI education, ensuring that every child and teacher can benefit from free, age-appropriate, and easy-to-use learning resources. We believe that responsible and sustainable AI literacy begins with understanding - helping students learn how artificial intelligence works, recognize its capabilities and limitations, and appreciate its growing influence on decision-making in society.
