Day of AI USA Expands US Coverage, Ignites a National Push for AI Literacy Through “Responsible AI for America’s Youth” Campaign
National momentum grows as teachers from all 50 states in over 1,000 schools engage in Day of AI’s free professional development and classroom resources
December 9, 2025 (Cambridge, MA) - Day of AI, a non-profit organization dedicated to preparing children to be responsible and successful users of artificial intelligence (AI), has expanded its reach rapidly in the United States with more than 1,000 schools across all 50 states joining Responsible AI for America’s Youth, the organization’s campaign to bring free, accessible AI education and professional development to every community in the country. This critical milestone adds to Day of AI’s global impact with its comprehensive, research-backed curriculum now reaching more than two million students in 175 countries globally.
Launched in September in partnership with MIT RAISE, the campaign seeks to equip every U.S. educator with high-quality training and classroom-ready resources to build a strong foundation in AI literacy and responsible use among students and educators. The initiative reflects Day of AI’s core mission: ensuring that every student, regardless of zip code, has the opportunity to understand and shape the technologies transforming their world.
Since October, Day of AI’s team of best-in-class instructors, administrators, and curriculum specialists have been offering free, virtual professional development sessions three days per week across multiple time zones, making it easy for teachers from Maine to Maui to take part. The team is also delivering in-person training with partner organizations across the country and the globe.
“The U.S. system, which gives states the responsibility for education, requires substantially more of our resources and a unique approach to bring our free curriculum and training to teachers nationwide,” said Jeffrey C. Riley, Day of AI co-founder and executive director and the former Commissioner of Education for the State of Massachusetts. “Our team of technologists, researchers, and classroom teachers has done an incredible amount of hard work in a short period of time to bring more than 1,000 schools across all 50 U.S. states online with the Day of AI curriculum.”
Highlights of the Day of AI USA program to date include:
- More than 1,000 schools officially participating in Responsible AI for America’s Youth
- Educators registered from all 50 states, with the following states filling out the “Top 10” when it comes to registrations: Massachusetts, New York, California, New Jersey, Texas, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Connecticut, Florida, and Virginia
- Nearly 100 unique training sessions delivered in just 10 weeks
The campaign will increase momentum in 2026, including new program offerings and opportunities for educators and students nationwide. All efforts will build toward America’s Youth AI Festival, a first-of-its-kind national gathering hosted at MIT in July 2026. During the festival, 250 students from across the country will spend a weekend in Boston/Cambridge exploring the responsible, ethical, and creative use of AI.
Beginning in February 2026, students will be invited to submit projects to a series of nationwide competitions in visual arts, performing arts, civics, and a “Better World” challenge that encourages young people to use AI to solve real problems in their communities. Winners will earn an all-expenses-paid trip to MIT for the Festival, which coincides with the celebration of our nation’s 250th anniversary.
