About This Unit
Students discover that humans learn by recognizing patterns, making predictions, and using information from examples. Through hands-on investigations, discussions, and playful challenges, students explore how technology mimics this behavior by learning from data provided by people rather than thinking like humans.
Students examine how machines improve with more examples, why predictions are not always correct, and why people play an important role in helping AI work responsibly.
Lessons
1. How Do Machines Learn Patterns?
Students discover that humans and machines recognize patterns by looking at examples and learn that people provide the information AI systems use to learn.
2. How Do Machines Make Predictions?
Students explore how humans and machines use patterns to make predictions and discover that predictions can change as new information becomes available.
